Title

The title is a summary, in a few lines, of the content of a work—its label, in a word. The title also includes the name of the author who created the work, the bibliographical address, or an indication of the place, year, and name of the publisher of that work.

Titles were not originally separated from the text in manuscripts and incunabula; it was only around 1460 that some printers began to print a separate title.
