Volume

Volumes correspond to the logical and intellectual division of a work according to its content by the author himself or by the publisher. The division into volumes is distinct from the division into physical books. Many people confuse the distinction between a "tome" (volume in French) and a "volume" (physical book in French); their definitions are affected as a result.
