Complete collection of the ten tales published by the Société des Bibliophiles contemporains. It includes the following titles, each printed in 188 copies:

1)A Country Excursion. 1892: this tale was not illustrated.

2)The Wreck. 1892: this tale was not illustrated.

3)Mouche, a boater's memory. 1892: 22 copper engravings based on drawings by Ferdinand Gueltry.

4)Hautot Father & Son. 1892: 12 compositions drawn by Georges Jeanniot, including 3 out-of-text plates, heliogravure in intaglio, retouched with etching and burin by Henry Manesse and printed in polychrome intaglio.

5)The Wolf. 1891: 12 aquatint engravings by Evert Van Muyden.

6)The Olive Grove. 1892: 3 plates and 6 drawings by Paul Gervais.

7)La Maison Tellier. 1892: 25 outline and watercolor compositions by Pierre Vidal.

8)Allouma. 1892: 4 color illustrations by Paul Avril.

9)Mademoiselle Fifi. 1892: 4 plates and 18 drawings by Gérard and Charles Morel.

10)An Evening. 1892: 27 wood engravings based on drawings by Georges Scott.

The talesA Country ExcursionandThe Wreckwere initially not illustrated, as each member of the Académie des Beaux livres was expected to arrange for them to be decorated in the margins with original drawings by artists of their choice.

In this collection, the first tale, mounted on stubs, IS ENHANCED WITH 2 ENGRAVED PORTRAITS, as well as 20 LOVELY WATERCOLORS IN THE MARGINS BY ÉMILE ADAM; the artist's project for this illustration, consisting of 20 ORIGINAL WATERCOLORS on heavy paper, is also distributed within the volume.

As for the second, it is enhanced with 6 lithographs with remarks by Alexandre Lunois.

The color frontispiece by Henri Boutet, distributed to members after the publicationof A Country Excursionis bound at the end of the volume.

Printed for Henri Thuile, perhaps unique in this state. Each volume contains its lovely decorated cover which reflects the very particular taste of Octave Uzanne, then president of the contemporary bibliophiles.
