ORIGINAL EDITION LIMITED TO 540 NUMBERED COPIES ON HOLLAND PAPER. This is one of 23 deluxe copies on mother-of-pearl Japan paper, accompanied by two suites of engravings, one in black on vellum and the other in bistre on Japan paper. Alexandra Grinevsky, born in Saint Petersburg in 1899 and died in Paris in 1976, was the first wife of artist and filmmaker Alexandre Alexeieff. From 1945 until the end of her life, she worked in Etienne Reich's film studios. In addition to this title, she illustrated four other books, including André Gide's Paludes.
