Edition of The Happy Prince and The Nightingale and the Rose, 2 stories by Oscar Wilde translated by Albert Savine.

Edition illustrated with color compositions by François-Louis Schmied, who engraved and printed them on his hand presses. Collaborators: Pierre Bouchet and Théo Schmied fils, engravers-printers.
Apart from the cover illustration and the 5 out-of-text woodcuts, the edition is illustrated with 27 slender vertical vignettes in the first story and 23 horizontal ones in the second, plus an initial letter for each story and monochrome line endings. These abstract vignettes, far from being considered by Schmied as decorative, are for him a true illustration for which he provides a table and caption at the end of each part.
The illustration also includes 2 small woodcuts and 4 vertical woodcuts for the tables, and a small colored vignette for the colophon.
