Limited edition of 420 copies on large Arches laid paper: artist's copy, unnumbered but justified in pencil by Josso himself, with an autograph ex-libris signed by the same to Albert Malle. Enriched with a suite and an original drawing signed by Josso. Stunning original binding signed by Rose Adler, with gilding done by A. Jeanne, and dated 1951. This copy is also enriched with the binding's mock-up, composed of 3 tracing papers, 2 assembled cardboard pieces, and a cardboard piece used as a template.
PROVENANCE: Albert Malle, collector, member of the Société de la Reliure originale, who was one of Rose Adler's patrons from 1933 to 1953 (name on the pastedown and ex-libris); Maurice J. Lachard (by descent).

Full-box binding in 4 colours: red, chestnut, cream, and black, forming on both covers a composition of 4 triangles opposed by their points, each decorated with mosaic circles that alternate the colours, all highlighted with white and brown fillets and gilt rules. Smooth spine adorned with multiple white and black fillets, with the author's name in gilt, and the title in silver and black on a black mosaic piece. Palladium edges on witnesses, red box doublure edge-to-edge, with R. Adler's signature and the owner's name on mosaic pieces. Grey suede endpapers, double endpapers of brown paper sprinkled with gilt dots, black half-box slipcase titled on the spine, box [Rose Adler] (minor rubbing on the edges, stain on the corner of the pastedown and the upper endpaper; spine of the slipcase split and flaking, box split and worn).
