FIRST EDITION accompanied by 62 plates reproducing 123 photographs taken live or reproducing drawings by Jacovleff. The automobile expedition organized by André Citroën took place from Beirut to Beijing (13,000 km) from April 1931 to February 12, 1932. One team included a radio operator, a filmmaker, the painter-illustrator Alexandre Jacovleff, as well as a paleontologist, Father Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. Through this adventurous journey, Citroën aimed to demonstrate that geographical, cultural, and political borders in the world could be abolished thanks to the automobile.
