First printing of this charming book of hours inspired by medieval manuscripts, with beautiful ornaments and figures on every page, in color and with gold highlights. The book was designed with the brand new technique of chromolithography, whose rendering achieved an unprecedented level.

Copy from the publisher Edmond Engelmann, with his beautiful color bookplate bound at the front and a handwritten note in pencil: First printing copy chosen by me in 1869, E. E.

Bound at the front is a letter of thanks from Marie-Caroline, Duchess of Berry, dated 1866. She thanks for "the magnificent work by Mr. Angelman" (sic).
