LIMITED EDITION of 130 numbered copies on Arches pure rag paper, this one printed for Mr. Albert Hornung.

The work was entirely designed by Lucien Pissarro, who adorned it with 18 compositions in camaieu of colors engraved by himself and his wife Esther. Lucien Pissarro was also the creator of the typeface named Brook type, designed after Jenson's Venetian typefaces. In a letter dated August 4, 1925, to the critic Bormans, he states: The “Brook type” was designed by me and the punches were engraved by Mr. E. P. Prince, of London. This typeface is not commercially available and is reserved for my exclusive use.Pissarro took care to harmonize the typography with the illustrations. In slipcase. Flexible full green boxcalf binding. Smooth spine with gilt title running lengthwise. The covers are adorned with a soft green suede panel covered with art nouveau floral patterns in raised gold, repeated over the entire cover. Edition illustrated with compositions by Lucien PISSARRO, engraved by Lucien and Esther Pissarro. The first page of the book is entirely decorated with an elaborate floral frame with, in the center, 3 turbaned young women holding flowers. The drop caps at the beginning of chapters are beautifully illuminated.
