Copy enhanced with a long and interesting letter from Gide to Louis Rouart concerning an article Rouart was preparing on Amyntas. Gide feared this article and tried to make his correspondent understand the meaning of Amyntasand his work in general... "If you were to misunderstand it as much as you misunderstood Amyntas, and if, after my letter, you still did not better understand the book, then do not write the article - and too bad..."
