Born in Rennes in 1870, Charles Géniaux dedicated many novels to his native land: "La passion d'Armelle Louanais" takes place in Guerno, Morbihan. He was also passionate about the Orient and wrote several works inspired by his stays in North Africa.

Housed in a bordered slipcase and half-maroon morocco chemise with overlapping edges. Full maroon morocco binding, title at the foot of a mosaic design in cream calfskin with red and gold fillets in a stained-glass window pattern inlaid in the center of the front cover. Smooth, unlettered spine. All edges gilt on uncut pages. Doublures and endpapers in beige calfskin adorned with a tiled mosaic pattern in red morocco. Original covers and spine preserved. Binding signed MAROT-RODDE. Illustrated with colored woodcuts by Henry CHEFFER; colored initials, headpieces, and tailpieces.
