LIMITED EDITION of 120 copies on Rives wove paper, this one with an additional suite in the first state, before cutting of the copper plates, of the illustrations printed on white Japanese paper, the print numbered and signed by the artist, and an original copper plate of an illustration.

In a bordered slipcase and a half-box chemise with a velvet interior. Full box binding in anilou green, copper inlaid into the front cover and framed by a superimposed box border of the same shade, velvet endpapers. Gilt top edge. Covers and spine preserved. Binding signed C. and J.P. Miguet.

A famous collection of short stories, this is the first illustrated edition. The 16 burin engravings by Yves Robert that adorn it perfectly match the satirical and humorous tone employed. Frontispiece by Abram Krol.
