UNIQUE COPY of Japan, made from this work normally illustrated by Cappiello, whose 15 engravings have been replaced by 83 original drawings by T. JANRO. Executed in colored pencil in the margins of each page, at the top and end of chapters, as well as 7 full-page, they depict explicit scenes. They are signed and dated 1938-[193]9 by the artist on the justification page.

In a bordered slipcase and chemise with a morocco spine and flaps. Full emerald morocco binding. Smooth spine with gilt title running vertically. Covers adorned with a radiating design of fine mosaic old rose and garnet morocco pieces and gilt fillets. Old rose morocco doublure (edge-to-edge) and matching suede endpapers, double endpapers. All edges gilt. Original cover with design and spine preserved. Binding signed G. G. LEVITZKY.
