Full red Levant morocco binding. Smooth spine adorned with gilt and blind fillets and tools and gilt dotted patterns. Front cover framed with a wide gilt lace between two blind laces, all three edged with gilt fillets; at the corners, large squares of gilt dots and straight or intertwined gilt fillets, cold-stamped romantic plaque in the center. Back cover decorated with a large frame of gilt fillets with corner tools, surrounding a rectangle formed of 4 fan-shaped pieces connected by gilt fillets and containing a rosette, all in multi-colored morocco mosaic. Gilt lace on the inner turn-ins. Gilt edges on guards. Contemporary binding, signed by THOUVENIN. Interior with some foxing. Illustrated with a portrait of the Duke of Berry engraved by Jazet and 11 plates outside the text.
