A nice, small, bound copy of this work on the Duke of Wellington, a 19th-century English military figure who greatly contributed to the fall of the First Empire. It is interesting to note that this book bears the ex-libris of Louis Tascher de la Pagerie, a French soldier and politician from Martinique, and cousin of the former Empress Joséphine.

Binding half-shagreen black. Spine with four raised bands with decorated compartments and bands, gilt fillets, title and author. Cold-stamped fillets on the covers. All edges gilt. Bookplate in the form of a label on the pastedown. Tear on the half-title page. Paper slightly browned but in good condition. Halo on the upper corner of the pages, not affecting readability.
