The third day

Summary: "Woe betide the wolf that left the forest, going from La Louvardière to the domain of the Marquis de la Bure to follow Georget: at eleven years old, he can read a track like a hunter. In the same week, the beast is tracked, chased, and killed. He is rightly given the honorary paws. He has the idea of giving one to the Marquis, on whose land the wild animal was killed and whose castle fascinates him. Of the character, he only knows that he has been struck in his lineage: Manfred, the eldest son, was killed during the Commune; Gaston, a missionary, has just died in Africa. The beautiful residence he enters for the first time therefore has no more heirs. The line will die out. The huntsman Matlaw and the Marquise are no longer so sure after seeing this proud little rider whose ardour seduces the Marquis. He is the spitting image of Manfred at the same age. Could he not be a son he had with the beautiful Ferline? Convinced in turn, the Marquis wants to take his grandson home. Fanny, Ferline's sister, shatters his hopes: Georget's mother is her. A lie? The truth? For everything to return to normal, a drama will have to erupt in the Norman forest, whose inhabitants and secrets come to life so well throughout this narrative."
