ORIGINAL EDITION published for the Académie des Beaux Livres and directed by Octave Uzanne, who designed the paper.It is illustrated with 140 compositions adorning each page of text, executed by the great artists of the time: Léon RUDNICKI (cover, frontispiece, colophon, and title), Alexandre LUNOIS (The Madonna, 18 color lithographs), Eugène COURBOIN (The Antichrist, 38 watercolor compositions), Carlos SCHWABE (Immortality, 33 compositions, including 10 black intaglio prints and 23 large watercolor floral motifs), Alexandre SEON (The End of the World, 47 "monochrome frescoes," here watercolored).

LIMITED EDITION of 180 copies on vellum, according to Carteret. This copy does not bear an impression number.Slight foxing on the preliminary and end leaves, due to the ink of the cover illustrations and their coloring.

In a bordered slipcase and half-morocco chemise with overlapping edges. Full bottle-green morocco binding. Spine with raised bands adorned with a lemon fillet. Two double gilt fillets and a set of lemon and rust Art Nouveau mosaic fillets and gilt-edged fillets framing the covers. All edges gilt. Gilt inner dentelle and small gilt tools, black, green and gold embroidered silk doublures and endpapers, second endpapers of paper adorned with small floral motifs. Covers and spine preserved. Untrimmed. Binding signed Lucien MAGNIN.
