In a bordered slipcase. Full dark purple morocco binding. Spine with 2 cabochon raised bands, bearing the title mosaiced lengthwise, composed of fawn bamboo segments arranged in a Japanese style, adorned with a double gilt fillet, the author's name in gilt letters and a red flower with green leaves. Front cover decorated with a battleship on the high seas emerging from a storm, mosaiced and pyro-engraved in beige, black and orange morocco, enhanced with silver, a large natural bouquet of hibiscus leaves and flowers and mosaiced and varnished lianas in emerald green morocco, arranged in the upper part. On the back cover, a small composition painted in black, orange and gold depicting a lively sampan, doublures decorated with 3 strips of mosaiced black and red morocco set with gilt fillets and 4 hibiscus flowers in the corners. Gilt top edge. Illustrated cover and spine preserved. Untrimmed. Binding signed Ateliers Ch. Muller, Nancy. Very fresh interior. Illustrated with 83 original woodcuts vividly colored with watercolor stencils by Pierre FLAKE.
