LIMITED EDITION OF 125 NUMBERED COPIES ON JAPAN PAPER. This copy is enhanced with AN ORIGINAL WATERCOLOR SIGNED BY F.L. SCHMIED, a suite of the "Henri Heine" engraving in 12 states, all signed and justified in pencil by F.-L. S, and a signed proof of the Society dinner menu adorned with a color engraving.

In this collection of 46 poems, the Comtesse de Noailles evokes travel impressions from both northern Europe and the Mediterranean basin, praising her enchantment with Sicily, the desert evenings, the gardens of Lombardy, Roman days, Venetian nights, the spring of the Rhine, the nights of Baden, etc. Gaston Reaubourg.

Housed in a half-morocco slipcase and chemise (faded spine) with small overlaps. Full green morocco binding. Covers and spine preserved. Inner decorations on the turn-ins. Silk endpapers. Binding signed MERCIER succ. de son père-1930.

Illustrated with 82 compositions in color, gold, and silver, wood engraved: 1 cover, 1 frontispiece, 6 plates, 40 in-text illustrations, and 34 tailpieces by François-Louis SCHMIED. The typography and plate printing were executed on his hand presses by Pierre Bouchet, engraver and pressman.
