Copy ENHANCED WITH A SUPERB SET OF 53 ORIGINAL DRAWINGS BY GEORGE BARBIER, including 50 pencil sketches (21 x 15cm) and 3 more elaborate, signed drawings, two of which are watercolors (20.5 x 15 cm), as well as 26 plates intended for layout work.

A unique testament to George Barbier's research and composition process, a crescendo in drawing precision, from the lively sketch to the fine and controlled ink line.

Included is an autograph letter signed by François-Louis Schmied to Madame Corrard regarding the publication of Chansons de Bilitisillustrated by George Barbier (3 and a half pages in-8): "I will do everything in my power to be worthy of his memory" wrote Schmied to the widow of the poet Pierre Corrard (1877-1914). This superb work, also illustrated by Barbier, was published in 1922 under the name of the Collection Corrard.
