Quarto edition, printed on strong laid paper watermarked "du Marais". An octavo edition was published the same year. Complete with the often-missing folio atlas. It contains 44 magnificent double plates, including a large folding map, printed on strong vellum and all mounted on stubs: portraits, scenes, coats of arms, views, natural history engraved on copper by Dien, Copia, Pérée... after Piron, Audebert, Redouté, etc. La Billardière (1755-1834) took part as a botanist in the expedition ordered by King Louis XVI and placed under the command of d'Entrecasteaux in search of La Pérouse, of whom there had been no news.

Two quarto volumes and one folio atlas in black half-shagreen. Spines ribbed with blind-stamped fillets and gilt title. Black shagreen cloth covers. Three speckled edges. Slight foxing to the plates of the atlas, often marginal.
