Front cover richly illustrated with a gold, black and yellow design (magnificent gilded representation of the haloed Saint as a Franciscan Tertiary and a blind-stamped reproduction on a gilded background of St. Elisabeth's Church in Marburg, inlaid on each cover in an ogival medallion with quadruple gold fillets underlined by the gilded title, all framed by a romantic floral frieze embellished with gilded reproductions of the heraldic symbols of Thuringia) after a composition by A. Souze. All edges gilded. Very clean interior. Illustrated with 36 steel plates, in chromolithography and watercolors under captioned tissue guards, one of which is a frontispiece, and numerous wood-engraved and steel-engraved figures in the text reproducing the main monuments and sites dedicated to the life, death and memory of Saint Elisabeth of Hungary.
