"Under the general title of "Signe ascendant" (Ascendant Sign), various poems were brought together shortly after André Breton's death, whose unity becomes apparent upon reading the first text: a true manifesto in favor of analogical thought, it is this text that gives its title to the entire collection. Because logical thought is anti-poetic, meaning it is incapable of producing images and providing any pleasure, whether intellectual or emotional, it is necessary to reconnect with the thread of analogical thought. Only analogical thought allows for the connection of realities that logic considers irreconcilable. It is only by returning to this lost way of thinking that surrealist poetry, through metaphor and comparison, can exist. The following pages of the collection precisely constitute this place where the visionary poet, resolutely placed under the "ascendant sign" of analogy, undoes the ties that logic has woven. If he delivers a decomposed image of reality to us, it is because reality is always re-composed through the archaic prism of analogy."
