With a concise narrative of the campaign in S. W. France, previous to and including The Sortie from Bayonne, April 14th, 1814.

A small book dealing with a little-discussed aspect of the Napoleonic campaigns in history books: the final resting place of soldiers who fell on the field of honour. There were many victims among the Napoleonic forces as well as among the English. Among the latter, some found a final refuge in Bayonne, unable to be repatriated to their native Albion. This small book pays tribute to them through its text and illustrations.

Publisher's full red percaline binding. Smooth spine with gilt florets and title. Rubbed headcaps and joints. Front cover with gilt fillets, florets, and black floral motifs, also including gilt title and fleuron. Back cover with blind-stamped fillets. Minor rubbing on covers. Blind-stamped ex-libris on the front free endpaper. Handwritten ex-libris and inscriptions on the half-title page. Tanned paper. Good condition of the contents, adorned with black and white decorated initials and tailpieces, black and white full-page illustrations, some folding, as well as a folding black and white map.
