With a oncise narrative of the campaign in S. W. France, previous to and including The Sortie from Bayonne, April 14th, 1814.

This small book addresses a little-discussed aspect of the Napoleonic campaigns: the final resting place of soldiers who fell on the field of honor. There were many casualties among both the Napoleonic forces and the British. Among the latter, some found their last refuge in Bayonne, unable to be repatriated to their homeland. This small book pays tribute to them through its text and illustrations.

Publisher's full red percaline binding. Smooth spine with gilt flourishes and title. Head and tail of spine and joints rubbed. Front cover with border fillets, black flourishes and floral motifs, also including gilt title and flourish. Back cover with blind-stamped border fillets. Minor rubbing on covers. Paper browned. Good condition of the contents adorned with black and white decorated initials and tailpieces, black and white out-of-text illustrations, some folding, as well as a folding black and white out-of-text map.
