A poem in every book

Paris Louis Broder 1956

Reference: 82278

Original collective edition, containing twelve poems by Eluard, autographed by the author and adorned with 16 original engravings and lithographs, in black and in color, by Jean Arp, André Beaudin, Georges Braque, Marc Chagall, Oscar Dominguez, Max Ernst, Alberto Giacometti, Valentine Hugo, Henri Laurens, Fernand Léger, André Masson, Joan Miró, Pablo Picasso, Yves Tanguy and Jacques Villon.

LIMITED EDITION of 120 copies on Rives wove paper, signed by the artists, with the exception of Léger, Laurens and Tanguy, who died before the publication of the work. The copper plates, woodblocks and stones were effaced after printing.

The books published by Louis Broder are like small museums of modern art, featuring works by the most influential artists of the 20th century, all in a perfect setting: the perfection of Roger Lacourière's printing, the elegance of the layout, the choice of works, everything is in harmony, and Paul Eluard's Un poème dans chaque livre is no exception.

Here, Giacometti, Picasso and Miro are surrounded by Arp, Max Ernst and Fernand Léger. What more could one wish for? Well, how about, firstly, an "hors-texte" by Yves Tanguy, an artist whose engraved work comprises only 30 plates, and, secondly, an exceptional binding?
