LIMITED EDITION of 500 copies, this being number 14, one of 20 on old Japon paper containing the pure etching, a suite of etchings in black and yellow, the definitive state of the etchings in color, a suite of woodcuts in color, an original watercolor by the artist, and 2 newly discovered etchings.The author Giacomo Casanova published in French under the name "Jacques Casanova de Seingalt". The illustrator Gerda WEGENER is a Franco-Danish artist. She traveled to Italy, England, and France. She settled in Paris in 1912, where she became famous as a painter and began creating illustrations for magazines such as Vogue, La Vie Parisienne, La Baïonnette and other newspapers.

Full red morocco binding. Smooth spine with gilt title and author. Front cover features a large harlequin-patterned mosaic lozenge with a gilt-bordered mosaic title; back cover features a pyramid within the same lozenge. Turn-ins finely bordered with an inner hinge, suede doublure bordered by 2 strips of the same suede, triple endpapers. All edges gilt on guards. Covers and spine preserved. In a slipcase with bands, within a bordered box. Binding signed MAROT-RODDE. Interior in perfect condition. Illustrated (with reproductions) of original watercolors by Gerda WEGENER wood-engraved by G. Aubert and color-etched by André Lambert.
